Synopsis: After years of being in an out of mental institutions with manic-drepressive disorder, Caleb Benedict (Lee Pace) finally has a stable life: a job at the library, a cat, and an apartment all of his own. He reads murder mysteries, drinks tea, amd makes pies. There’s even a cute library patron who flirts with him from time to time.

So that’s when his father dies.

His mother, Amy (McDormand), a scizophrenic, has collapsed beneath the mental strain and Caleb receive a call from Doctor Roberts (Izzard) informing him of her attempted suicide. Now Caleb finds himself doing the one thing he promised he’d never do: he’s going back home.

He has to admit his mother and sort through his father’s things - the father who beat him and nearly killed him. Sifting through his father’s diaries and journals is an obsessive and dangerous habit - but he cannot look away from the life his father lived: a crazy wife and a crazy son.

Doctor Roberts wants to permenantly admit Amy, but Caleb is hesitant. Has he really changed at all? Has she? He’s been running from the memories of his childhood and the town for so long, he’s starting to wonder if he should even run anymore. Can he face his own demons to help his mother, or will his own madness win out?

I’d much prefer that he didn’t wear one at all :P

Sam (Pace) is a very shy and lonely man, he has a dull job, his whole life is lethally boring. Every night Sam sees the same dream. In Nazi Germany a young student Gerd (Hiddleston) tries to resist the regime and his own father colonel Meinberg (Branagh). Being Dieter (colonel’s younger son and a step-brother to Gerd) Sam is eager to reunite the family and to save both his father and brother. But no matter what he does, in the end one of them dies. Falling more and more into this destructive relationship, obsessed with his dream Sam escapes the real life, hiding at home, trying to sleep as much as he can. Day by day the line between dream and life gets more opaque. And when suddenly Sam wakes up in Nazi Germany he realizes he had gone too far and it is his last chance to save his family.

I am moderately happy that I haven’t seen this…I prefer him as a man!
